While we are still waiting on the State to review our environmental plan, last week we had a nice surprise when the elevator company came out to demo Kahlua's elevator! They had previously told us the demo wouldn't happen yet, but a break in their schedule allowed them to send a few guys out They pumped out the hydraulic fluid, removed the electronics and the rack, and hoisted the muffler out. Next, they will be installing and hooking up the new electronics.

The Island, like Kahlua, has a ways to go to fully recover, but so many people are working hard to make that happen. Still, people who are visiting Fort Myers Beach for the first time since Hurricane Ian, say the island looks so much worse than they thought it would.
 

As I drove home from Kahlua last week, cursing the traffic trying to get off the island, I took the time to check out how the rebuilding is going. Some homes and businesses have rebuilt, but the majority have not.
