Letter from Nate Allen, President of the Kahlua Board of Directors

Dear Owners:

We are at the one-year mark following Hurricane Ian and like you, I am frustrated that the rebuilding/restoration process is not further along.  However, we continue to make progress with the architect and contractor and hope to have the final bids within the next few weeks.  Our goal is to have them by the annual meeting, which we moved, in large part, for this reason.  We will be providing updates as we receive them, but the architect has finished the plans and the contractor has sent them out for bidding (progress is positive).

On a different note, we recently learned that we have two “new” issues to deal with: (1) the Town of FMB is reviewing an ordinance related to the location of swimming pools on the Gulf side and we may have some issues with the setback of our pool location (not sure yet as things are still being debated), and (ii) if that wasn’t bad enough, we learned that Hurricane Idalia actually caused some damage to our swimming pool.  The surge went over the sea wall and wreaked havoc on the pool wall.  We are still assessing the damage, but it does not look good.

Please continue to be optimistic and patient.

Nate Allen

President
